ALBERTO MORILLAS
THE SIGNATURE OF A GREAT PERFUMER
Born in Seville, Alberto Morillas grew up in Andalusia befbre studying at the Fine Arts School of Geneva. In the 1970s, he discovered and fell in love with the perfumer’s trade by reading books on the subject.
This self-taught visionary was granted the title of Master Perfumer in 1988. In 2003, he received the Coty Prize for his lifetime achievements, awarding his meticulous work and distinctive signature, recognized by all of his peers.
A goldsmith of the most prestigious fragrances, he created the first Dali fragrance in 1983, which Salvador Dali envisioned as a tribute to Gala, his wife and muse, with whom he was madly and excessively in love, in the most Dalinian style. The osmosis between the talents of the perfumer and those of the Master resulted in a perfect creative understanding, as it was only natural for Salvador Dali to take an interest in fragrance, this other form of artistic expression, in which Alberto Morillas excels, as it fell somewhere between art and fashion.
Alberto Morillas is inspired by his encounters, in which each word is important, conveying the most secret emotions of each individual. He composes all of his formulas by hand and smells his creations over and over: “My composition is my emotion. When I write a formula, I can smell the fragrance,” he explains. Fragrance, which for Salvador Dali was “the most beautiful messenger of memories and happy moments.”
