Houbigant’s newest creation celebrates the Orange Tree.
The Orange tree is the symbol of fertility, of abundance (because Orange trees produce flowers and fruit at the same time), of innocence and marriage by excellence, it is also the emblem of eternal love. Indeed it was customary for the bride to wear it or to have it in her bouquet on her wedding day. The custom initially started in ancient China but it was really Queen Victoria, one of Houbigant’s most prestigious clients, who secured the tradition by wearing a crown of orange blossom flowers on her wedding day in 1840.
The Orange tree is also perfumers’ favorite tree because it is one of the most versatile of all scent sources, and gives us a collection of amazingly different scents:
-Orange essential oil from the peel
-Orange blossom absolute from the flowers
-Neroli steam destilled from the flowers
-Petigrain and Eau de Brouts from the leaves, the twigs and the branches of the tree
