Dried fruits

Dried fruits are prized for their sweet taste and delicious flavor. Most commonly consumed dried fruits are raisins, dates, prunes, apricots, pears, figs, apples and peaches. The oldest known written recipes, dating back to the fourth millennium BC in Mesopotamia, often mention dried fruits. The ancient civilizations have used dried fruits for breads served in palaces and temples. They were considered rare ingredients and used only for the haute cuisine.
