Tangerine

This intensively orange-colored variance of mandarin was named after the port Tangier of Tanger (French) in Morocco, from which it was exported to Europe in 1841 for the first time. At the beginning the fruit was called ‘tangerine orange’ (just like the ‘mandarin orange’), but then the name was cut just to tangerine. The tangerine is the same fruit as mandarin, only it is cultivated in Morocco.
